How to calculate overall CGPA from grades for CBSE 10th
For 2011-2012, the following grade points are assigned to the grades obtained in Scholastics.
Grade Grade Point
The CGPA is the average of Grade Points obtained in all the subjects excluding additional 6th subject as per Scheme of Studies.
An indicative equivalence of Grade Point and Percentage of Marks can be assessed as follows:
- Subject wise indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x GP of the Subject.
- Overall indicative percentage of marks = 9.5 x CGPA
e.g. Let's assume the following grades are obtained by a student.
Subject GradeGrade Point
English Communicative B1 8.0
Communicative Sanskrit A2 9.0
Mathematics A1 10.0
Science A1 10.0
Social Science A2 9.0
Foundation of Information Technology (Additional Subject) A1 10.0
% English Communicative = 9.5 X 8.0 (Grade Point)= 76%
% Communicative Sanskrit = 9.5 X 9.0 (Grade Point) = 85.5%
and so on for other subjects ..
CGPA (We will exclude the additional subject) = (8.0 + 9.0 + 10.0 + 10.0 + 9.0)/5 = 9.2
Overall % = 9.5 X CGPA = 9.5 X 9.2 = 87.4%
