HRD Ministry proposed a single national-level entrance examination, called the Indian science Engineering Eligibility Test (ISEET), to replace IIT-JEE and AIEEE from 2013 onwards.
As per the proposal, ISEET will have two sections — one to test the aptitude of the aspirant, and the other testing Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at a Class XI and 12 level. Though the papers will be set by the IITs, the exam will be conducted by the CBSE.
However, what sets apart ISEET from IIT-JEE and AIEEE is that a certain weightage would be given to board examination results.
ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test) Exam Date :
The ISEET is going to be effective for admissions into the IITs and NITs for Admission year 2013 and therefore is expected to be conducted in either March or April 2013.
ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test) Test Pattern:
ISEET will have two papers ISEET Main and ISEET Advance
Selection Process for ISEET (Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test):
A student’s performance in the Class 12 Board exam will be considered, with the weightage not less than 40 per cent of the total score. The combined weight for ISEET Main and ISEET Advance will not be more than 60 per cent.
The weightage given to Board scores can go up to 100 per cent.
Each state government or institute will be able to decide the specific weightage it gives to Board ISEET Main and ISEET Advance exam/test scores.
The number of takers of ISEET will increase given that the board examinations now constitute 40% of the weightage for selection into the ISEET affiliated technical institutions and colleges.
The ISEET is expected to be conducted by the 12 CBSE board of examinations. Setting of the ISEET papers be handed over to IITs.
